If you are experiencing a message when you launch the Windows recorder and press record that says the recording failed to start, here are a few tips:

  1. Close out of the recorder, go to app.vidgrid.com, click Record. Sometimes a fresh launch from the app will work.

  2. Re-download the recorder. To do this, right-click on the Record button in the app. Choose "Download screen recorder."

  3. If you are running Windows 10 N or NK edition, Install Microsoft Media Feature Pack. Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/mediafeaturepack. It includes a module that our recorder relies on to work and isn't installed by default on some Windows installations after the media feature pack is installed, try launching and starting a recording. if that doesn't work, try re-installing the recorder one more time.

If you are still having issues, reach out in the in-app chat or email support@vidgrid.com.
